Three Bean and Ground Turkey Slow Cooker Chili
Deliciously tasty and filling that's worth the wait.
5 cups diced tomatoes
5 cups pinto beans
1 cup tomato puree
1 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp leaves dried oregano
5 cups black beans
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp salt
2 lbs ground turkey
1 cup chopped carrots
2 cloves garlic
1 <span class="measurestring" title="medium (2-1/2" dia)">medium</span> onion
6 oz tomato paste
1 jalapeno pepper
10 cups kidney beans
Combine onion, garlic, carrots, chili powder, oregano, jalapeno, salt and pepper in a 5-quart (or larger) slow cooker; stir. Add remaining ingredients; stir again.
Cover and cook on high setting for 6 to 8 hours.
Yields about 1 cup per serving.
Note: you can start cooking the chili at a high setting so the ingredients quickly reach a safe temperature. You can then reduce the heat to low after 3 to 4 hours, if you prefer.
