Swiss Steak with Mashed Potatoes
Crockpot Swiss steak with mash.
2 cups diced tomatoes
4 <span class="measurestring" title="pat (1" sq, 1/3" high)">pats</span> butter
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp pepper
1 tbsp salt
1 cup sliced onions
4 <span class="measurestring" title="potato medium (2-1/4" to 3-1/4" dia)">medium</span> potatoes
16 oz round steak
1 <span class="measurestring" title="cup (8 fl oz)">cup</span> water
1/2 cup skim milk
Trim steaks to remove fat and cut into individual portions.
Tenderize with mallet. Season meat with salt, pepper and garlic powder.
Add one can of tomatoes to the bottom of the crockpot. Place steaks on top of tomatoes.
Slice one large onion and place on top of steaks.
Add 2nd can of tomatoes to top of steaks and cover with 1 cup of water.
Cook on low for 8 hours.
Serve with mashed potatoes, using last 3 ingredients.
